Revelstoke’s dog-friendly patio round-up
Can Fido join you at the table? Or is there a relaxing “dog parking” spot with a fresh bowl of water for them? Here’s where you can and can’t take your dog dining in Revelstoke.

Patio season is in full swing for Revelstoke, and folks looking for a meal might have a four-legged companion or two joining in. Here’s a guide to navigating après with pets in tow.
What makes a Revelstoke dog-friendly patio?
As of Jan. 30, 2025 provincial regulations require that food service establishments with outdoor spaces keep all outdoor food contact surfaces clean and controlled.
Establishments in Revelstoke offering dog-friendly patio seating need to include an approved sanitation plan that outlines how to keep food surfaces and preparation areas clean from pet interaction. Pets cannot access the outdoor space through the interior dining space and owners must keep control of the pet at all times.
Keeping dogs under control and out of the way in a busy environment is one of the key hurdles The Village Idiot couldn’t overcome for its outdoor space.
“If we fill up and there’s six dogs out here, we don’t know how they interact with each other,” Mitchell Naidoo, day manager said, explaining that the restaurant’s current outdoor space doesn’t have the room needed for staff and guests to safely navigate with multiple dogs added into the mix.
Instead, the restaurant provides a middle-group option, allowing dogs to be leashed along the perimeter of the patio in a shaded grassy area and seating owners as close by as possible. Water bowls are provided on site to give dogs a hydration break while food is served.
Similarly, Big Bend cafe offers a “dog parking” spot and Old School Eatery has a grass space beside its patio for dogs to be leashed.
There are fully dog-friendly patios in Revelstoke, with the space and resources available to keep all patrons and staff safe even during busy times. Providing pet-friendly patio spaces at Gravity Haus Revelstoke’s Lüft cafe and bar is just part of business in Revelstoke Ben Tonissen, Gravity Haus Revelstoke back of house manager said.
“Every day there’ll be people sitting out there who have dogs. It’s a big part of our business and helping out the community as well,” he said.
Here’s a breakdown for where you can (and can’t) go with your dog.
