Disc golf is hitting Revelstoke this September, this time to raise money for charity in the community.
On Sept. 11 and 12, the Revelstoke Community Foundation is hosting a charity disk golf championship to raise money for the Youth Endowment Fund. Scorecards must be submitted electronically by 10 p.m. on Sept. 12 to qualify for prizes and team standings.
All ages are welcome to participate in this easy-to-play fundraiser. Since there is limited supervision on the course, players are asked to use the ‘honour system’ for a fair competition.
At $25 per player, teams of four have a $100 entry fee. This money will go directly towards the Youth Endowment Fund, creating grants for organizations that support young people in the community.
Scores for each team will be counted cumulatively per player, and prizes are awarded to the top three teams. If your disc golf skills are rusty, there is also a category for the best-dressed team.
On top of the honour system structure, there are a few ground rules for teams to follow:
- Players must shoot from the red tee deck.
- Shots cannot be repeated.
- Discs must hit the orange fire hydrants.
- Throws are made from the location you find the disk.
- Leave no trace, only footprints.
This socially distant event uses online submissions. An Eventbrite link is available for sign-ups and payments. For more information, check out the official Facebook event.
