Brief: Public tip leads to arrest

A tip from the public led to Revelstoke RCMP arresting a suspect wanted for theft and dangerous flight from police in Vernon.

On Monday, April 17, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP received reports of thefts in progress at two businesses in the north end of the city. In a statement, Cst. Chris Terleski, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer said responding frontline officers located the suspect who evaded capture and fled in a stolen vehicle. A media release was issued asking for help from the public to locate and identify the suspect.

On Thursday, April 27 Revelstoke RCMP frontline officers, acting on a tip from a member of the public who saw the bulletin, located the stolen truck with the suspect inside. RCMP said the man was arrested safely without incident.

Scott Robert Page, 33, of Calgary, has been charged with several Criminal Code offences including possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, obstruction, and two counts of theft. Following an initial court appearance, he was remanded in custody. In an email update to media, Revelstoke RCMP acting detachment commander Sgt. Chris Dodds said Page has been remanded into custody until May 3, 2023.
