The 2022 Spirit of Revelstoke Award winners are:

Bill Beard

Beard was nominated and won the award for being an outstanding volunteer at the library during their current renovation and helping with the children’s space.

Ben Morrow

Spirit of Revelstoke Award winner, 12-year-old Ben, designed the origami dragons that children made at the library over the summer for Luna Fest and supported them in making them over the summer. He also designed the 25-foot-long modular origami dragon.

Perry Greenwood

Greenwood was nominated and won the award for being an outstanding and dedicated volunteer at the library, supporting staff with many aspects of the current renovation and helping put together the new children’s space.

Brendan MacIntosh

MacIntosh won the award for volunteering in the position of Stage Manager for Flying Arrow Production’s Mamma Mia! His calm presence and impeccable organizational skills were key elements in creating a large community musical in just five months.

Tina Steen

Steen is not only a volunteer show host on Stoke FM, but she also joined the board and is now in the Secretary position, reviving the Stoke FM Newsletter. Steen was nominated and won the award because many of the advances that Stoke FM has made in the last year have been a result of Tina’s hard work.

Ed Palasz

Palasz won the award for being a phenomenally accomplished craftsman and for sharing his talents with the Revelstoke Railway Museum. Recent projects include the restoration of a CPR handcar, replacing the footbridge deck at the Last Spike, single-handedly re-laying the 1885 demonstration track, re-building the roof structure on the Selkirk Spreader and beautifully restoring the interior.

Ed Koski

Koski won the Spirit of Revelstoke Award for being a tireless volunteer for the Revelstoke Railway Museum and a long-time volunteer with the Legion. He has led at least the past two Remembrance Day ceremonies.

Chris Bostock

Bostock has won the Spirit of Revelstoke Award for committing six years to the Revelstoke Community Foundation and continuing to volunteer with the Investment Committee.

Zofie Humphreys

Humphreys has served eight years as a member of the Board of Directors with the Revelstoke Community Foundation. Specifically, she was nominated and won the award for spending time working with the grants committee, the donor committee, and the community engagement committee on behalf of the Foundation.

Mark Gunner

Gunner, now retired from work and REVSAR, put in hundreds and hundreds of hours making sure the accounting, reporting tools, and future well-being were solidified at REVSAR. REVSAR wishes to nominate Mark for all his many contributions over the years.

Ward Kemerer

Kemerer dedicates hundreds of hours every winter to keep the trails on the Greenbelt and flats groomed and the equipment in good order. He was nominated and won the Spirit of Revelstoke Award for his dedication to the trails.

AJ Lerose

Lerose runs the Boxing Club on his own, and despite losing a major facility, he has kept the club alive and growing. He takes his boxers, young and old, to competition and also dry land trains the Grizzlies in his spare time.

Theresa Hamilton

Hamilton is on the Board of the Revelstoke Hospice Society and organizes monthly Death Cafe meetings. She was nominated and won the award for numerous community contributions, including being active in the United Church kitchen, whipping up the weekly special at the Soup and a Smile program. She also has been an asset to the Food Recovery Program with Community Connections, in which she has helped to steer the ship over the years. She also serves on the Board of the Revelstoke Snowboard Club.

Lisa Moore

Moore has headed the Revelstoke Indigenous Friendship Society since its inception. She’s been instrumental in bringing much-needed awareness to Indigenous issues such as Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, organizing the first-ever Salmon Feast in 2021, and organizing a free gratitude dinner for anyone in the community.

Diana Bostock

Bostock was nominated and won the award for being “the sports mom of the century,” supporting many children and other volunteers in this town through positivity and community engagement.

Joanne Gawler

Gawler established the Revelstoke After School Society three years ago, which offers reliable and affordable after-school care every day for 84 Revelstoke families. Her passion for the daycare program won her the 2022 Spirit of Revelstoke Award.

Nick St-Germain

St-Germain was nominated and won the award with his production, Group Research Project, which has provided Revelstoke with a fantastic and safe music scene.

Shawn Filipchuk and Dylan Powell

Filipchuk and Powell have been volunteers with the Grizzlies for many years. “Dylan keeps the barn Rock’n as our music man while Shawn runs a tight ship in the beer garden.”

Tecla Marrow and Eric Tompkins

Marrow and Tompkins are incredible volunteers at the Revelstoke Grizzlies home games. Marrow is the “mother hen” at the front door, making sure everyone is safe and well taken care of, while Eric is selling Frisbees and providing backup security to the front door. This must be at least their tenth season working the home games. Their dedication and passion made them recipients of the 2022 Spirit of Revelstoke Award.

Joanne Anderson

Anderson won the 2022 award for being an amazing volunteer at the Revelstoke Grizzlies’ home games. She can be found selling tickets and merchandise in the
Booster booth.

Christa Nymark, Allan and Christopher Bowerman

This family won the award for being priceless volunteers with the Revelstoke Grizzlies Hockey team for a long time. Christopher started as the “water guy” for the team. Christa was our lighting director for years; now, she and Allan provide security on the friends and family side of the arena. They are often the first at the arena and have most everything set up before the rest of the volunteers arrive.

Clarence Dunlop

Dunlop has been part of the Revelstoke Woman’s Shelter Society for many years now. He mows lawns, shovels snow, and does many other tasks around the grounds to ensure staff and clients are always safe.

Marquie Murphy

Murphy has served two years as president of Stoke FM Radio Society. She has overseen a growth phase at the station that has included a branding overhaul, the hiring of a new full-time journalist, a website redesign, an increase in programming, and an increase in board members and volunteer commitment.
