Organizers of the 20 Under 20 non-profit freekiing clinic for up and coming female skiers say the interest in the weekend event at Revelstoke Mountain Resort shows a healthy interest in the growing female freeskiing scene.
The event brought 20 selected skiers aged 20 and under from across western Canada and the U.S. for a weekend clinic with the Girls Do Ski camp organizers, including Revelstoke professional freeskiers Leah Evans and Izzy Lynch.
In a statement, camp organizers noted the skill and determination of the young skiers and they thanked those who made the free weekend clinic possible:
Twenty girls from across B.C., Alberta and the United States were invited to participate in a freeski camp at Revelstoke Mountain Resort on Saturday, January 17. The day was full of clinics, coaching and networking from local pro skiers Leah Evans and Izzy Lynch. The girls were selected based on their potential and promise as the next generation of skier girls, and minds were blown with the level of skill and determination this group displayed. If this weekend was any indication, we are in for a massive growth spurt in the sport of female freeskiing.
Huge shout out and special thanks to our hosts at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, who provided lift tickets for the day and graciously donated space for us to offer this camp free of charge to the 20 young shredders who took part in what some have already declared the best day EVER!
