Exhibition Opening at The Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre, 5 p.m.

Tonight is the opening night of four new exhibitions at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre. Visitors can expect to see work from Lesley Mayfield, Gabrielle Clarke, The Fierce Art Project, and the Golden Girls. Sewing, quilts, and brushwork – both big and small – will fill the gallery walls. Come and meet the artists and enjoy their work between 5-9 p.m.

Darts and karaoke at the Royal Legion, 8 p.m.

The perfect post-art-expo stop off. The Royal Legion will kick off its karaoke and darts night at 8 p.m. this Friday. Enjoy drink specials and a giggle, as you watch your friends murder some of those classic hits in karaoke.

Revelstoke Farmers Market at Mackenzie Ave, 8 a.m.

Downtown’s Mackenzie Ave. will be transforming into a bustling hub for local produce and unique craftwork once more. You’ll have until 1 p.m. Saturday to get yourself downtown and support local before the market wraps up for the day.

Revelstoke Spring Block Party at Downtown Revelstoke, 9 a.m.

Revelstoke’s Community Events Group is hosting their Annual Spring Block Party this Saturday. Coupled with the farmers market, expect Revelstoke’s downtown core to be filled with fun activities, fantastic deals from local vendors as well as diverse market stalls. What better time to come down and enjoy the Spring sunshine!

ArtBark Silent Auction Fundraiser at Jacobson Ford Showroom, 3 p.m.

Jacobson Ford will be hosting the first ever ArtBark Silent Auction Fundraiser this Saturday in support of the Revelstoke and District Humane Society. Head on over to the showroom between 3-7 p.m. and enjoy great artwork (available to buy), raffles, food and drinks.

If you hadn’t already guessed, this is StarWars-themed event based on that pun that will just never grow old. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume and a surprise DJ will be turning up the bass at 10 p.m. Haven’t got time to find a costume? Well, you can still feel the force within you by sipping down some appropriately named drinks, such as Dark Side shots for $6 and C-3PO pints for $5.

Sunday, May 5

RCU Family Fun and Road Races at Queen Elizabeth Park, 9:30 a.m.

The RCU Fun Run and Road Races will kick off on Sunday morning with 2k, 5k, and 10k races. Some great cash prizes will be on offer in 16 different categories. More than just races, there will be fun for everyone; a kids table will be set up for the little ones, meanwhile Peak Axe Throwing will have a mobile unit set up for the bigger “kids”. This is a free community event.

Hike for Hospice at Revelstoke Museum and Archives, 1 p.m.

This is a national event in which each hospice across Canada partakes in a hike in memory of lost loved ones. Head down to the Revelstoke Museum and Archives at 1 p.m. to honour the memory of someone close to you. Cathy English from the Revelstoke Museum and Archives will be giving a heritage tour and will provide a history of Revelstoke West. Dogs are welcome.

4th Annual Clothing Swap Fundraiser at Revelstoke Aquatic Centre, 12 p.m.

Reuse, reduce, and recycle are the three pillars that prompted the founding of this community event. Come along and swap your gently used clothing, shoes and accessories – or simply come and browse what’s on offer! Clothing can be new or used but must be in clean, wearable condition (no torn or stained or otherwise damaged items). Entrance fee is $5 if you bring a bag of clothes to swap, or $10 if you don’t bring any items. The fee will also enter you into a draw that will be taking place during the swap, with some great prizes on offer. See you there!
