Following a week of anticipation after a pause on the original Saturday, Nov. 29 opening day, Revelstoke Mountain Resort announced it will officially kick off the 2025-2026 winter season Saturday, Dec. 6. Early season conditions are expected throughout Mount MacKenzie and sections of the resort will be closed on opening day, but riders can get a lap or two in on at least one groomed track per operating lift.

“Our team has been hard at work preparing the mountain, and we’re excited to share the first tracks of winter with you this weekend,” the resort shared in a press release.

An estimated 18 centimeters of snow is predicted by Saturday, adding to the 92 centimeters currently making up the base on the majority of the trails. Snow is expected to set in for a longer haul early in the week with roughly 49 centimetres predicted to blanket the mountain.

RMR gets its forecast data from Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc., a Canadian meteorological consulting firm specializing in mountain meteorology and microclimates throughout mountain terrains.

What’s open on opening day?

While the season has already seen over 250 centimetres in snow, low levels of snow accumulation in sections of the resort means key areas will still be closed Saturday, Dec. 6.

Cupcake Carpet, Stellar Chair, Ripper Chair and Stoke Chair will all be operational, but terrain below the base of the Stoke Chair will be closed including a majority of The Last Spike.

The terrain park will remain closed for opening day. Riders will be required to download at the top of the Revelation Gondola until later on in the season.

Stellar Chair, Ripper Chair and Stoke Chair will each have one groomed trail from the top to the bottom, and riders are encouraged to check grooming reports before heading out for up-to-date information.

Unmarked hazards are expected as riders head lower down the mountain, and ungroomed or off-piste glade skiing is not recommended.

Whether the Sub Peak and the Lemming Line, the route to traverse to the top of the Sub Peak will be open remains to be determined.

“Take your time and choose your line appropriately and remember; this is only day one,” the resort wrote.

Lifts open at 8:30 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. and guest services will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Rockford Bar and Grill will be open for breakfast at 7 a.m. and stay open until 11 a.m. The Mac Tavern will be the lunch spot, opening at 12 p.m. and will remain open until 12 a.m.
