A new business in Revelstoke is offering a variety of professional communications services for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and self-employed individuals.

Melissa Jameson Writing & Communications is offering in-person and online workshops focused on teaching small businesses how to create better relationships with media, as well as improve internal and public communications.

“Communications is an integral part of any business, no matter its size,” said Melissa Jameson, owner of Melissa Jameson Writing & Communications. “I’m really excited to be offering my services in Revelstoke and the feedback I’ve received from the small business community so far has been amazing.”

To celebrate the opening of her business, Jameson will be offering a one-hour workshop on June 28, focusing on teaching small business owners to create a positive relationship with local media. The workshop is regularly priced at $35, but is being offered on June 28 only for $10. All workshops are limited to 20 participants.

“I chose to have the number of participants in my workshops capped at 20 participants in order to allow for a more intimate learning environment,” said Jameson. “It also allows me to ensure that I am able to work closely with participants. As a small business owner myself I understand that every dollar spent is important, and I want participants to feel like they are getting a worthwhile benefit when they take one of my workshops.”

The managing media workshop takes place June 28.

The Managing Media: Creating a Positive Working Relationship workshop will cover a number of topics including:

-Understanding the difference between advertising and editorial content, including exploring advertising placement and ensuring your market connects with the media’s.

-How to create a media contact list and what to include in it.

-Responding to media requests and coping with media mistakes.

The Managing Media workshop takes place June 28, starting at 3 p.m. in the Boulder Room at the Revelstoke Community Centre. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. You can register by contacting Jameson at 250-837-8561 or emailing mnjameson@outlook.com.
