The Public Art Gallery within the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre (RVAC) is known for its lively exhibition opening events. These traditionally celebrate the first night of a brand new exhibition with music, refreshments, and friends. Last year local artist, Hayley Stewart, had a record breaking opening night that featured live music by DJ Dolla Hilz, margaritas and empanadas. They’d like to invite you once again to join them for their current exhibition’s event, however for this show they’re hosting a closing night event.
Video: We stopped by the gallery to chat with Meghan Porath, Executive Director, about the show. Watch here:
The current “Anything Goes” exhibition is an art auction which raises funds for Revelstoke’s only non-profit public art gallery. Running March 17–April 14 this annual exhibition & fundraiser invites local artists to create work in any medium, or theme, as long as the piece is 12” x 12”… anything goes! So, instead of an opening event the gallery has opted for a closing night event. Join them in person as they count down to the final moment, and the final bids. Winners will be able to take home their pieces at the end of the night. Bring a friend, or make a new one at this social & cultural event.
The Closing Night Event:
When: April 14, 2022 from 5–8 p.m.
Where: The Public Art Gallery at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre, 320 Wilson St, Revelstoke
Cost: Entry is $5 at the door
More Info: Music, Food & Refreshments, Semi formal attire
Bidding* takes place online at www.32auctions.com/rvac2022. This means everyone is still able to participate in the auction, even if you are unable to visit the gallery during opening hours, or make the closing event. Bidding ends at 7pm, April 14. With 65 artists participating in this year’s show, there’s bound to be something for everyone.
*Bring your phones and make sure they’re fully charged, bidding will all be digital. Don’t have a smartphone? We have a few ipads available, thanks to the Revelstoke Idea Factory, during the closing night event for those needing to bid.
