The high-energy fundraiser at Traverse nightclub, organized to help with post-holiday decline in donations, turned a night of beats into an evening of giving.

Donations to the Revelstoke food bank often decline after the holiday season, despite an influx of support at Christmas. To help bridge the gap, volunteer Rob Singh, who also works at Traverse nightclub, organized Groove 4 Food – a fundraiser where cover was a cash donation or non-perishable food items.

“The food bank always struggles to get donations after Christmas,” Singh said. “This sparked the idea for Groove 4 Food, where we could bring the community together for a fun night while supporting a great cause.”

Raffle prizes and non-stop music fuel fundraising success

One of the evening’s standout features was a large-scale raffle with prizes donated by businesses across Revelstoke, including The Taco Club, Dose Coffee, Nate’s Nets, the Revelstoke Museum, Holm Coffee and Contour, among others.

The night featured 18 DJs, each performing a 20-minute set alongside two dynamic hosts who kept the energy high, introducing performers and facilitating the raffle. Every single person involved — DJs, hosts, volunteers — donated their time and talents to benefit Revelstoke Community Connections.

A record-breaking night for a worthy cause

Groove 4 Food became one of the busiest nights of the season at Traverse, with attendance nearing capacity from 10 p.m. onward Singh said. The community’s enthusiasm translated into remarkable contributions, with $1,198 raised in cash donations and multiple boxes of food collected for the food bank.

Following the event’s success, organizers are already planning their next major fundraiser—the Ski Bum Ball on April 11.

“This will be our end-of-season event and another food drive for the food bank,” Singh shared. “The theme will be ‘Bibs and Bow Ties,’ so bring your classiest ski outfit!”

As with Groove 4 Food, entry will require a non-perishable food item or a cash donation, and another raffle will feature prizes from businesses throughout Revelstoke.

For those looking to give back while celebrating the end of the winter season, April 11 promises to be another unforgettable night at Traverse.
