Transport truck wipes out on Trans-Canada, blocking both lanes

A transport truck driver has been ticketed for failing to keep right after he tipped his truck over on the Trans-Canada Highway, coming to a rest in the middle of the highway, blocking both lanes.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at a location about 38 kilometres west of Revelstoke.

Revelstoke RCMP say the eastbound truck first veered into the eastbound ditch. In an effort to recover, the driver veered back but ended up rolling the truck onto its side, blocking the highway.

A westbound pickup truck encountered the scene and was forced to swerve towards the westbound ditch, and made contact with the cab of the transport truck.

Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident.

Revelstoke RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Thomas Blakney said the driver of the transport truck, a 25-year-old man from Alberta, was ticketed for failing to keep right.

The incident has been cleared and the highway is now open.
