Tragic end to search for missing person Jared Szabo

Search for missing Revelstoke resident Jared Szabo comes to end after body located in Upper Arrow Lake.

Missing person Jared Szabo, 29, was last seen on Aug. 1 in the Beaton area.

The search for a Revelstoke resident who went missing near Beaton, B.C. at the start of August has ended in tragedy.

Nakusp RCMP have confirmed that a body recovered from the Northeast Arm of the Upper Arrow Lake by a civilian search team on Aug. 22  was that of Jared Szabo. Police and search and rescue technicians recovered the body. The next day, police confirmed that it was Jared Szabo.

Szabo was last seen in the Beaton area on Aug. 1, and was reported missing on Aug. 3. Szabo’s pickup truck was located submerged in the Incomappleux River, and police said there were fresh signs that the truck had left the road and fell down a steep embankment. The Incomappleux River drains into the Upper Arrow Lake.

News broke days later that another man, Allan Ellsworth, went missing in the area at the same time. His vehicle was located nearby where Szabo was staying in Beaton, although police have yet to officially connect the two cases. Since the start, police have said they don’t suspect foul play in the disappearances.
