Revelstoke Summer Street Festival is an annual free concert series that runs every night in Grizzly Plaza in the heart of downtown Revelstoke, featuring a unique blend of local and visiting performers. Each evening, the plaza is filled with free seating as community members and guests come to take in the unique mix of performers. Grab a snack, listen in from a nearby patio, dance, or catch up with friends at the back. The shows run from 6:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m. nightly.

Aug. 4 & 5 Tanner James

Tanner learned to write songs on a beach in Maryland when he was twenty-years-old. He was sleeping in a hammock in the woods on the edge of town trying to make a girl fall in love with Him. Busking for change on a boardwalk on the beach will almost certainly put words in your mouth.

He writes:

Riding horses and driving tractors in Southern Alberta was his childhood. I was a farm boy and I spent my days wandering with my dog, humming the songs I heard on the a.m. radio. My grandpa could spin a story out of anything and I hung off of his every word. He taught me how to do the same.

I started an indie rock band and we were together five years. We had an old red van and we toured the country. I fell in love with every town and city we ever played in and every highway line we passed.

My roots caught up to me as they often do as a person grows. I remembered all my time on the farm and all the stories my grandpa told. Folk and country music started to call my name.

My name is Tanner James and I am a singer, a runner, a traveller, a dreamer, a troubadeur and a guitar picker.

45 Minutes is a Revelstoke-based band with an emphasis on playing what the audience loves to hear, so be sure to let them know!

Uncorked The Band has evovlved into a dynamic five and sometimes six-member band covering an ever expanding song list of music from today’s digital downloads to all your favorite classics. Their unique and energetic style demands our audience
to be part of the musical experience.

Far from the wistful meanderings of your standard cover band, Uncorked The Band combines a multi-faceted female vocalist with a diverse, powerful, hard hitting soulful sound with a full arsenal of collaberating musicians/singers who have created a impassioned tapestry of high enery rock and dance, peppered with offerings of hip-hop, R&B, country and even music with a Latin flair.

Aug. 9 Blackberry Wood

Blackberry Wood is a secret and magic combination of alt-country-gypsy punk and circus music.

The band has appeared many times in Revelstoke, including the Street Music Festival and has a fantastic reputation for their high-energy fun and strange circus cabaret show, weaving dreamy old musical styles, like 1920s and ’30s jazz, country and gypsy feeling original music, with big bouncy modern flavours like pop, ska, hip-hop and punk.

July 27 & 28 The Burtons

A veteran performer in venues across the country, Charlie combines a variety of vocal and guitar styles into a diverse repertoire of original and cover songs, reflecting jazz, folk, pop, and blues influences, including Bruce Cockburn and Paul Simon.

July 29 Relative Jazz

Relative Jazz is a four-piece jazz combo featuring John Baker on guitar, Wendy Lucas on keyboards, Bob Fournier on bass and Steve Earle on percussion and trumpet. Much of the music that you will hear is classic jazz, the standards passed down from Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Cole Porter, Nat King Cole etc. Mixed into the blend are eclectic jazz pieces with a slight twist on tempo and melodic harmony — a feature of the individuality of the bands creativeness. Just to mix it up a bit, a few classic rock numbers and some original creations. As the name of the group implies they are all related, with some stretch of the imagination. The members of Relative Jazz have a great time making music together and it’s always a fun and wonderful night playing at the plaza. Hope to see you there.

July 30 Sister Speak

With the people behind them, this rootsy alternative band is known for a both uplifting and moving live show. Through compelling vocals, a driving, dynamic rhythm section, rootsy yet gritty guitar stylings, and thought-provoking lyrics, Sister Speak has connected deeply with a diverse crowd of fans from around the globe.

Hailing out of British Columbia and recently based in San Diego, CA, Sister Speak performs over 100 concerts a year in Canada and the USA. Fronted by Canadian singer/songwriter and guitarist Sherri-Anne, their debut ‘Rise Up For Love’ album has been aired and in rotation on radio throughout the USA, Canada and Europe, including CBC radio in Canada, BBC in Europe, and commercial radio throughout southern California and British Columbia. Both core members Sherri Anne & drummer Lisa Viegas grew up in British Columbia. Sister Speak’s current line-up features the addition Tolan Shaw and the bass grooves of Jacob Miranda.

July 31 Jessica Stuart Few

Internationally-touring indie folk-jazz power trio The Jessica Stuart Few has one of the freshest sounds around. The band’s sophomore album, Two Sides to Every Story, was released to critical acclaim, winning the 2014 international Independent Music Award (IMA) for ‘Best Album’ and dubbed, ‘endlessly charismatic’, by The Globe and Mail’s Brad Wheeler. While on tour throughout North America, Asia, Europe and Australia, the band remains in regular rotation on Bravo! TV and CBC Radio while topping campus radio charts, and appearing on commercial airwaves in Japan, hitting #85 on the Tokio Top 100 and #38 on FM North Wave. Jessica’s unprecedented take on the Japanese koto (13-stringed harp), her exceptional guitar work, and signature songwriting are innovative and refreshing, earning The ‘Few main stage performances at festivals worldwide.
