Terry Fox Foundation calls for Revelstoke organizer
In its 36th year, the Terry Fox Foundation is calling for a volunteer to organize a run in Revelstoke to raise money for cancer research.
Revelstoke has hosted a Terry Fox Run since 1988, contributing to the more than $700 million in funds raised worldwide in Terry’s name, to support cancer research.
Terry Fox was a beacon of light when he embarked on his Marathon of Hope in 1980. He ran the equivalent of a marathon a day for 143 days straight, on one leg, to raise awareness for cancer research funding. When his cancer spread, he was forced to stop running. This year will mark the 36th annual Terry Fox Run.
The Terry Fox Foundation is calling for a volunteer in Revelstoke to take on the duties of making this year’s run (or bike, rollerblade, walk) happen on National Run Day, on Sunday, September 18. The time commitment ranges from two to four hours weekly in the lead up.
