A regular maintenance closure was planned to begin this weekend and the restaurant says operations will resume towards the end of November.
The Taco Club is the second Revelstoke restaurant to announce a COVID exposure via social media on Thursday, November 18. Craft Bierhaus also made an announcement about a potential COVID exposure that had occurred at that establishment on November 11. It is unknown if the two exposures are related.
The Mountaineer has reached out to the Taco Club for more information, including dates when the exposure occurred. We will update this story when more information is available.
Update: Thursday, November 18, 4 p.m.
Taco Club co-owner Mike Brown has responded to an email from the Mountaineer that sought more information about the restaurant’s announcement it was temporarily closed due to a confirmed COVID exposure.
“Interior Health will follow up with anyone who may have been at risk of exposure. Due to our adherence to public health guidelines including distancing of tables, only serving groups of six or less, strong cleaning protocols and mask wearing by staff, we believe the risks are low. We won’t be making any further comment with respect to the identity of the individual,” Brown wrote in the email.
Brown also said neither WorkSafe BC or Interior Health have advised the restaurant to close or change any operating procedures, noting “the closure underway represents our attempt to set the bar high for respecting staff and public safety and to go above and beyond what is mandated to keep our community safe.”
Information about the date the exposure occurred was not provided.
