Video Summer Street Festival July 6: Steve Palmer

Revelstoke Summer Street Festival is an annual free concert series that runs every night in Grizzly Plaza in the heart of downtown Revelstoke, featuring a unique blend of local and visiting performers. Each evening, the plaza is filled with free seating as community members and guests come to take in the unique mix of performers. July 6: Steve Palmer

Steve Palmer’s been pickin’ and singin’ and writing songs for a long time now, but these last few years have been the most fun of all.

Raised on country, gospel, old-time and the blues, Palmer was hired on as a picker for visiting British Invasion acts during the 1960s, and has continued as a session musician. He began singing in the 1980s and has released four albums since.

In 2014 Palmer released his fourth album Prairie Airs and that has led to even more Western Canadian touring and his first Maritime and Ontario concerts.

His biggest acoustic guitar influences are Doc Watson, Merle Travis, Maybelle Carter, and Tony Rice. His songwriting style is a little more varied — Lightfoot, Ian Tyson, the Beatles, and Bob Dylan are heavy influences.

Originally from Edmonton, Alberta Steve now resides in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
