Search for Dierdre after owner seriously injured in MVI on Trans-Canada Highway

The driver of a vehicle that lost control and crashed into the ditch on the Trans-Canada Highway five kilometres east of Revelstoke on May 10 was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital, and now authorities are searching for a lost young Mastiff they believe was ejected in the crash.

Here’s the text from a Revelstoke RCMP media release sent out late Wednesday, May 10:

On Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at approximately 1:25 PM, Revelstoke Volunteer Fire Department, Emergency Health Services, South East District Traffic Services and Revelstoke RCMP responded to a single motor vehicle crash, 5km East of Revelstoke, BC near the Trans-Canada Highway.

A witness who was following the Dodge Caravan from Alberta, observed the driver loose control, causing the vehicle to hit the ditch and subsequently roll-over. The driver, a twenty-six year-old male from Alberta was airlifted to Kamloops Hospital in serious condition.

Revelstoke RCMP are currently still investigating the cause of this crash. The Trans-Canada Highway was closed for approximately twenty minutes, and is opened in both directions at this time.

Revelstoke RCMP recently learned that a seven month-old black Mastiff dog, wearing a red collar, who goes by the name of Dierdre would have been in the car at the time of the crash. It is believed that the dog kennel opened and Dierdre ran from the vehicle.

A search of the area continues, but so far Dierdre has not been located. If you happen to locate Dierdre, she is a friendly dog and you are asked to please contact the Revelstoke RCMP at 250-837-5255.
