In brief:

Today is a day of rest, the calm before the storm as runners massage their muscles and mental strength to prepare to take on 55 kilometres of mountain terrain as part of the TrailStoke marathon up Mount Mackenzie at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

Runners will take their places on the start line at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 29 in either a three-person relay or as a sole competitor. They will challenge their bodies through about 10,500 feet of elevation gain, running from to the top of the mountain through the alpine and a beautiful ridge before descending back to the base. A 12-hour maximum limit has been applied to finish the course.

Registrations have closed now but for those just wanting to take in the air of exercise, there’s a variety of films, food, and events at Revelstoke Mountain Resort to keep you occupied. Tonight (August 28) will have a film screening of Transcend at 7 p.m. for $5, doors open at 6:30 p.m.
