Riverside Knowledge Tours announced in part of National Indigenous Peoples Day

From June 21 until June 26, local student guides are offering Riverside Traditional Knowledge Tours as part of National Indigenous Peoples Day. The tours will run twice a day, once in the early afternoon and once after the work day ends.

Using a combination of artifacts, installations, and the natural environment, a local student guide will lead small groups of eight to 10 people onto further understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Some topics include reconciliation, ethnobotany, history, and cultural stories.

Although the tour follows an easy trail, there are a couple of gentles hills that may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Additionally, sensitive content covered in the tours may not be appropriate for children under 12.

This event is presented by the Indigenous Friendship Society of Revelstoke and the BC Interior Forestry Museum. Tickets are $5, and are available at the Forestry Museum and the Visitor Centre.
