Revelstuck: Heavy rain, mudslides, avalanche control close highways

The heavy rain system that is moving through southern B.C. has caused road closures or interruptions to the east and west of Revelstoke on Saturday morning.

The heavy rain system that is moving through southern B.C. has caused road closures or interruptions to the east and west of Revelstoke on Saturday morning.

A mud slide at the eastern boundary Glacier National Park has reduced the road to single lane alternating traffic, causing what DriveBC is calling minor delays. Look for traffic controllers and slow down, they advise.

Also on the same route between Revelstoke and Golden, avalanche control activity has shut down the highway until noon.

 A mud slide has closed the Trans-Canada Highway four kilometres east of Canoe. A geo-technical assessment is underway, but there is no estimated time of opening. The next update is expected at noon.

A mud slide has closed highway 97A in both directions between Grindrod and Sicamous. There is no estimated time of opening, and no detours available. DriveBC is expected to update the situation at 10 a.m.
