Revelstoke’s development services manager resigns

There’s been another change at the City of Revelstoke with the manager of development services Dean Strachan recently handing in his resignation.

It follows recent news that the city is without a finance director, after a recent hire didn’t work out. They are also preparing for the retirement of long-term director of community economic development Alan Mason.

In the last three years Strachan has been the go-to person on important development changes and legislation within the city.

The city’s chief administrative officer Allan Chabot said Strachan has accepted an offer of employment with another B.C. community. Chabot said Strachan’s incisive planning knowledge and instinct and productive capabilities will be sorely missed.

“City planning and policies were moved forward a good deal by Dean all the while handling a greater number of land use and development applications than the city has seen over the past many years,” Chabot said. “Customer service response and application processing times, with fewer personnel, have been greatly improved under Dean’s leadership.

“The City of Revelstoke wishes Dean continued success in his new role and knows that he will make a positive contribution wherever he goes.”

Before Revelstoke, Strachan was Vernon’s development planner. He started with the City of Revelstoke in November 2013. He will work until Dec. 30, with his last day in the City Hall office Thursday Dec. 22.
