Revelstoke U-Brew building damaged in icy mishap
Revelstoke U-Brew gets an unwanted drive thru on Wednesday evening.
The Revelstoke U-Brew building was seriously damaged on the evening of Mar. 1 after a pickup truck lost control on ice and slammed through the front entrance.
Revelstoke RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Thomas Blakney said the white pickup truck was travelling southbound around 8 p.m. on Victoria Road when the driver lost control on the “icy” roadway.
The truck slid through the T-shaped intersection, careened up the curb and slammed through the front doors of the building. The business was closed at the time, and fortunately nobody was hurt.
The driver of the truck, a 53-year-old Revelstoke woman, has been charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for ‘Failing to Keep Right.’ That section of the motor act says a “driver of a vehicle must confine the course of the vehicle to the right hand half of the roadway,” which basically means keeping in your lane.
Clarification: There are two businesses at the location, including Revelstoke U-Brew and Revelstoke’s Own Water & Ice; the latter sustained the bulk of the damage.
