Revelstoke skatepark design concept unveiled

In brief: The design concept for the planned new Kovach Park skatepark was unveiled at an open house April 16 at the Revelstoke Community Centre.

Designer Kyle Dion from New Line Skateparks presented the concept to about 60 skateboarders and community members.

The skatepark will be located where the existing skatepark is now, and is over 19,000 square feet, about 3,000 square feet bigger than the existing 16,000-square-foot park.

The park has a snake run, a bowl section a main street section through the middle, as well as several banks, transitions and a mini halfpipe.

The design included an earth berm lined with trees to mitigate noise and visual impact on nearby properties.

The presentation was co-hosted by the Columbia Valley Skateboard Association, the City of Revelstoke and New Line Skateparks. The designers are collecting input and comments for approximately a week, and will then make revisions based on input.
