Revelstoke RCMP: Joy ridden truck, motorcycle amongst ‘many’ items stolen recently

The distinctive sound of a tricked out exhaust system revving up in the night alerted the owner that a thief were making off with a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. The vehicle was found the next day near Powerhouse Road, but not before the thief or thieves took the truck for an “aggressive” joyride.

Just a day before, a resident reported that their 2007 Kawasaki KLX 250 had been wheeled off in the night, and it hasn’t been seen since.

These incidents happened on August 8th and 9th, and are part of an ongoing trend of thefts in Revelstoke.

“The RCMP have received may reports of stolen property in the last few weeks and wish to emphasize the importance of securing personal property, homes and vehicles to combat these thefts,” said Staff-Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky in a media release.

The truck was taken from an Eighth Street East home, and the motorcycle was stolen from an Edward Street home. The latter has yet to be recovered.

Revelstoke RCMP say they are continuing to investigate the incidents, and are seeking public tips.

Police say the pickup truck was driven aggressively on and off-road near the end of Powerhouse Road, so anyone who saw someone doing so in a silver Toyota Tacoma on those dates are asked to call police.
