The Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club is getting in the Olympic mood with a Feb. 10 Olympics Mania costume relay race.

The Team Scream race is a fun-filled event where costumes are “encouraged and expected.” The main race starts at 11 a.m. at Mount MacPherson and there are two options for competitors. Option one is a paired relay consisting of two laps along the 3.75km Mickey Olson trail. The first lap is a classic ski and the second lap is a skate ski. Option two is a skiathlon where a single skier races both the classic and skate laps. Warm-ups begin at 10 a.m.

Kids can also get in on the fun with a Bunnies race starting at 10:15 a.m. This year, the Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club is offering free rentals for youth under 16. The program is continuing for the month of February, giving youth a chance to try out skate or classic skis.

The Olympics Mania includes a free chilli lunch and Olympic medal cookie awards. Draw prizes are by donation, and participants can get their name into the draw extra times by donating items bound for the thrift store.

For more information about the Olympics Mania email or Last day to register is Feb. 10 between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

The RNSC is also hosting the BC Midget Championships March 3 and 4, 2018. This provincial level two-day race draws in approximately 250 athletes and their families from across B.C. It’s sure to be a busy weekend at the club and the parking lot will probably be full. The RNSC is looking for volunteers to help out during the race. If you want to be part of the volunteer squad email Natalie McLeod at

The RNSC is also asking skiers to fill out a strategic planning survey, asking about thoughts and priorities for the future of the RNSC. The survey can be accessed here.
