Just over two years ago I took my first yoga class. I had always wanted to try this form of exercise, but also needed to make sure I had the time to commit to a new activity. After a few months of bending, twisting and meditating I realized I desired a new internal program to compliment my outward determination. I decided to begin with a 10-day detoxifying cleanse that turned into four months and this in turn started a new adventure in culinary delights, which continues to this day.

One of the books I gravitated toward was Whitewater Cooks, Pure, Simple and Real Creations. The author, Shelley Adams, who attended the famous École de Cuisine La Varenne in Paris, spent 15 years as a caterer to the film industry. She and her family are owners of the Whitewater Ski Resort in Nelson where, for the past decade, she has been the creative director and manager of the Fresh Tracks Café. Shelley is passionate about creating easy-to-follow, delicious recipes from fresh ingredients.
Whitewater Cooks with Passion is the fourth book in her series and focuses on fresh, healthy recipes that range from innovative vegetarian delights to sumptuously rich and extravagant ones that will inspire a passion for food in everyone. Her recipes range from smoothies to salads to hearty dinners and decadent desserts. Try the Rosemary and Sea Salt Brownies, one example of a gluten free, irresistible, sweet treat. The Avocado Hollandaise is one of my favourites. The Tuscan Eggs Forentine is a superb way to start the day and the Kale Caesar is an impressive salad even the kids will devour!
Passion is defined as a strong and barely controllable emotion. Passion aptly describes the inspiration for this fourth book as Shelley’s passion for cooking is evident to anyone who knows her or her fabulous recipes.
