Revelstoke man missing since June located deceased in remote area

A Revelstoke resident missing since June has been found deceased in a remote area located about 25 kilometres west of Revelstoke

John Matthew Cunliffe was reported missing on June 18. Revelstoke police put out multiple alerts asking the public for tips and help locating the missing Revelstoke man, but to no avail.

Then on Nov. 17, a resident was out on a forest cutblock at a location about 25 kilometres west of town when the person saw a black Dodge pickup. It was Cunliffe’s truck, which police had also reported missing along with the Revelstoke resident.

Police went to the location and searched the area and located human remains at the location. The BC Coroners Service has now confirmed that the remains belonged to Cunliffe.

Police said that foul play is not suspected in the disappearance. Revelstoke RCMP spokesperson Staff-Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said police would not comment on the cause of death, other than to say foul play is not suspected.
