The second track from May Davis’ recent album, One Way Ticket, reveals the dark underbelly of renowned music mecca Nashville, Tennessee. Devil Who Walk tells the story of a young woman who trades in her rural upbringing for big city life and sees first-hand the dark forces that live amongst Music Row. Davis recalls her own experience in the iconic city, “…smokey alleys dim with burnt-out neon lights, murmured with distant sounds leaking from underground blues taverns and dive bars.”
Filmed live-off-the-floor in pure minimalist fashion at Musta Latos 100-year-old black barn in Revelstoke, Devil Who Walk was produced by FD Production: the second collaboration for Davis and Desrosiers.
The modern sparkle of this rustic structure was the perfect accompaniment to the dusty aesthetic of the film. The lyrics seeped through the sloped timbers with a southern drawl as the chandeliers shared their warmth on a cold October afternoon.
Davis recently received the Artist Development grant from FACTOR to fund this project and she is excited to share the release of Devil Who Walk on January 22, 2022 on her YouTube channel.
