The Grizzlies defeated the regular-season points champions Kelowna Chiefs in an exciting 3-1 game at the Revelstoke Forum on Tuesday night.

In the first, Juanre Naude put Kelowna on the boards during a power play goal.

Rider McCallum tied it up at 16:52 of the second period to make it 1-1.

After a scramble in front of the Kelowna net, Ethan Schaeffer took a pass from Tommy Bodtker to give the Grizzlies the lead.

Ullar Wiatzka rounded out the scoring at 17:56 to make it 3-1. Wiatzka leads the Grizzlies in post-season points with 15 points on 7 goals and 5 assists.

The Grizzlies had to fend off a late challenge in the third when the Chiefs pulled their goalie during a powerplay. It took dives, sprawls and one good ringer off the post to keep the puck out of the net.

Netminder Liam McGarva stopped 48 of 49 shots, many coming under late pressure from the Chiefs, for a 0.980 average on the night. The Grizzlies put 32 shots on Chiefs’ goalie Braeden Mitchell.
