Revelstoke Grizzlies regular season kicks off mid-November

Hockey fans rejoice. The Revelstoke Grizzlies kick off their 2020/21 season when they take on the Golden Rockets Saturday, November 14.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this season looks a lot different for fans of the Grizzlies Junior B hockey team. Current government guidelines dictate no more than 50 people can gather in the same place, meaning fans won’t be able to cheer from the arena stands.

While fans won’t be able to watch the games in-person, Grizzlies coach Ryan Parent told the Revelstoke Mountaineer there are plans to have games broadcast from all the major venues in town. There is also an option to watch games on HockeyTV for a small fee.

Game play for the Junior B KIJHL teams has also changed this season, with member clubs forgoing the traditional divisions and instead playing in cohorts consisting of a maximum of four teams. The teams within each cohort will change over three phases. The first phase starts November 13, 2020 and sees the Grizzlies in a cohort with the Golden Rockets and Sicamous Eagles. The team will then switch to its second cohort with the Chase Heat and Kamloops Storm on January 2, 2021 before their final grouping with the Sicamous Eagles and Kamloops Storm starting February 5, 2021.

KIJHL teams will play a 30-game regular season schedule that runs through Saturday, February 27 before the KIJHL Teck Cup playoffs begin in March. You can view the complete schedule here.
