Revelstoke COVID-19 weekly new cases drops to two

Two new cases in Revelstoke a big drop over previous three weekly periods; active cases unknown.

The number of new COVID-19 cases has dropped to two for the latest weekly reporting period, according the the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).

There were two new cases recorded for the weekly period running from Jan. 17 to 23. For the previous two weeks, there were 16 new cases each week, and for the one before that, 37.

Health authorities do not provide the number of active cases for the local health areas, so it isn’t known how many cases are active in Revelstoke.

Fernie cluster declared

Interior Health (IH) declared an outbreak in Fernie on Jan. 27, saying there had been 81 people who have tested positive for COVID-19 there in 2021. The most recent weekly period saw 44 new cases.

Big White update

ON Jan 26, IH added 11 new cases to the Big White cluster, bringing the total to 225 cases.

Salmon Arm uptick

The number of new cases in Salmon Arm jumped to 55 in the most recent weekly period. The number was 36 in the previous reporting period, 17 the week before that, and only four in the week spanning the new year.
