Revelstoke CBT Community Initiatives, tourism, grants in aid approved

All proposed community grants that were tabled to the March 24 Revelstoke City Council meeting were approved without change.

That included CBT Community Initiatives projects, City of Revelstoke Tourism Infrastructure projects and City of Revelstoke Grant-In-Aid projects.

The tourism funding stream included some of the larger projects.

The Revy Riders Dirt Bike Club will receive $20,000 to complete work on their trails project.

The Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre will receive $25,000 to assist with the development of the lobby foyer, signage and to help cover the costs of artists fees.

“They’re great initiatives for this community,” commented Coun. Connie Brothers on the tourism infrastructure projects that were approved.

“Just dealing with the [Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre project], this signage will transform this whole area and really showcase what a great place that is,” she said of the plan to upgrade signage at the RPAC entrance and lobby.

CBT Community Initiatives

There were 50 applications submitted to the CBT program this year, requesting a total of $727,044 from the $339,519 available.

The list of approved projects can be found here and includes $13,000 to the Revelstoke Cycling Association to expand its trail networks and improve current mountain biking infrastructure.

Another $7,500 youth theatre project will provide professional mentors to aspiring youth.

Museum and youth projects are well-represented amongst the 45 projects recommended for funding.

City of Revelstoke Tourism Infrastructure

The Tourism Infrastructure Advisory Committee recommended resort municipality initiative funds for four applications (see here) varying from $10,000 to $20,000.

The approved projects include $25,000 to the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre (mentioned above) to assist with the development of the lobby foyer, signage and to help cover the costs of artists fees.

Other tourism initiatives include $20,000 for a landscaping project at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre, $20,000 for the Revy Riders Dirt Bike Club for development of motorbike trails and $10,000 for the Revelstoke ATV Club to help with building a trail to Sproat Mountain.
