Revelstoke businesses honoured for family-friendly commitments

The Revelstoke Early Childhood Development Committee’s annual Family Friendly Business Award and the Family Friendly Workplace Award honours local businesses for their commitment to make their workplace friendly to families, including their staff and customers. Here’s more on the 2016 nominees and award winners.

The Revelstoke Early Childhood Development Committee has honoured Revelstoke businesses for their commitment to family friendly policies. Here’s their announcement of the 2016 awards:

The winners of the Family Friendly Business Award and the Family Friendly Workplace
Award were announced by the Revelstoke Early Childhood Development Committee on Monday Feb. 8 — B.C.’s Family Day.

The Family Friendly Business Award went to Emo’s Restaurant. Their nomination highlighted the welcoming staff, environment and efforts to provide an understanding, positive family friendly experience.

Revelstoke Credit Union was the winner of this years’ Family Friendly Workplace Award. The nomination for RCU acknowledged family friendly policies which allow parents to balance work and home life responsibilities.

The nominations noted excellent family events, a welcoming family environment and understanding sick leave policies as having an impact for employees. In addition, flexible schedules have allowed some employees to participate in their children’s events at schools and child care centres. The Revelstoke Credit Union was also the winner of the Family Friendly Business Award in 2012 and has received nine nominations over the past five years.

Nominees for the Family Friendly Business Award included: Emo’s Restaurant, Kidz on Main, Revelstoke Dental Centre, Mane Attraction Hair Studio, and Sangha Bean.

The Family Friendly Workplace Award nominees were: Revelstoke Credit Union, Community Connections (Revelstoke) Society and Selkirk Tangiers. To read more about their nominations, visit the Revelstoke Early Childhood Development Committee website.
