The Revelstoke Secondary School Boy’s Soccer Team ranked 12th overall and 2nd among public schools at the 2022 B.C. School Sports (BCSS) ‘A’ Provincial Championships held from Nov. 2 to Nov. 4, 2022, in Burnaby.
Once again, punching above their weight, the RSS team played strong in all five matches in the tournament, with trademark grit and no regrets, says head coach Andrew Sykes.
“Spirits are good: with seniors ending their high school years with heads held high and memories etched, and junior students already plotting the next season of the ‘beautiful game,” he says.
On the final day of the championships in Burnaby, the team narrowly lost, two to one, in an intensely played match against Credo Christian High School, a private school in Langley, B.C.

RSS team members Parker Aucoin, Rider Stockman, and Jonah Adam were selected to play on the Okanagan Valley School Sports Allstar team next Saturday, Nov. 12, as part of USport — University Soccer Nationals in Kamloops. The Allstar team representing the Okanagan Thompson Valley schools will play an exhibition match scheduled during the University Soccer Nationals. It is an opportunity for university scouts to see prospects play.
The boys were awarded this opportunity because of their standout performance all season long, says Coach Sykes.
The RSS Avalanche team appreciates the generosity of the Revelstoke community in helping them to the tournament in Burnaby.
They would like to thank Downie Timber, Skookum Bike & Ski, RCU, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, Everything Revelstoke, Wright Machine Works, Regent Hotel, Southside Market, SaveOn Foods, Revelstoke Family Pharmacy, and SD19 for their generous support in making the RSS Senior Boys Soccer Team’s participation in the 2022 BCSS ‘A’ Soccer Provincial Championships possible.
