Revelstoke artist Bambi to host mural workshop at RVAS for BC Culture Days

BC Culture Days invites British Columbians to experience the ‘unexpected intersections’ of creative connection and artistic discovery during its 11th annual celebration of arts and culture, Sept. 25 to Oct. 5, 2020.

Featuring a newly expanded line-up of free, interactive events and activities hosted at culturedays.ca/bc, the month-long celebration allows visitors to virtually criss-cross the country exploring the unexpected intersections of creative collaboration.

“More so than ever before, fostering connection, understanding, and healing through artistic expression is essential to our overall well-being as we navigate these strange and challenging times during COVID-19,” says BC Culture Days Manager Nazanin Shoja. “It is through creative curiosity that we gain a deeper appreciation for our world, for our community, and about ourselves.”

To help further support widespread community involvement within the artistic process, BC Culture Days has selected five exceptional emerging artists from across the province to act as cultural ambassadors — raising heightened awareness and boosting participation in their own communities, coupled with virtually across Canada.

One of those ambassadors is Revelstoke’s own Bambi, a French-Canadian artist and graphic designer. An outdoor enthusiast, Bambi’s creation process starts the second she hops on her beloved snow, surf or skateboard, and infuses the feeling of happiness she gets from playing outside into her art.

Bambi will be hosting a collective mural workshop at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre (320 Wilson Street) on Sept. 25 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. called “Behind the wall: The making of a collective mural.” A short video will highlight the creative process behind the making of the collective art piece and will be available to watch online during BC Culture Days.
