RCMP seek help identifying deceased man

The Revelstoke RCMP are seeking help identifying a man who was found dead at a makeshift campsite east of Revelstoke on Aug. 26.

The deceased man was discovered by a group of sightseers at the improvised campsite at the side of the Trans-Canada Highway about four kilometres east of Revelstoke.

Police believed the man is a transient who was camping when he passed away. They believe he was traveling the highway by day, and stopped to camp at night.

Police believe he died sometime in late July. He was riding a Supercycle brand bike, pictured above.

He is described as:

• slim build
• height approx 5’4″ 165 cm
• blond hair
• red ball cap
• bifocal glasses
• black T-Shirt with a white silk-screened logo of Roughnecks
• lumberjack style long sleeved shirt
• tan coloured hiking shoes
• white socks pulled up to his shins
• blue jeans rolled-up to appear as shorts

Revelstoke RCMP Cpl. Thomas Blakney said they are looking to Revelstoke and beyond in their effort to identify the man: “The Revelstoke RCMP is canvassing the community of Revelstoke and other communities along the Trans-Canada Highway East and into the Interior, in hopes of identifying him. This in turn will permit us to make efforts to notify his family of his death.”
