The witness described the accident scene as horrific, saying that the three vehicles involved were devastated and looked like crumpled “tin foil.” The incident involved at least three vehicles: a pickup, a motorhome and another small vehicle. The witness said it appeared that two of the vehicles collided head-on, but said it was hard to tell which direction each vehicle had been traveling at the time of impact.
There were at least two ambulances on the scene.
The incident closed the highway for over an hour. It has since opened to single-lane alternating traffic.
Revelstoke RCMP were not immediately available for comment and crews are still working at the scene as of the time of writing. In a brief email, an RCMP spokesperson said the incident didn’t involve a fatality, and that police would be providing a media release shortly. The Mountaineer will update this story once official comment from authorities is available.
