Rain dampens Ember Music Festival

The organization was great, the food was gourmet and the line-up was stellar. But all of that couldn’t bring the Ember Music Festival to flame in what was likely a costly attempt by Revelstoke Mountain Resort to bring a fall event to the city.

The unfortunate wet and cloudy weather on the evening of Saturday September 17 was worse knowing that just a day earlier it had been beautiful and sunny.

High up at RMR’s Revelation Meadows with with the view down to Revelstoke, it was clear to those who attended how successful the event could have been with some sunshine.

But despite the intermittent sprinkles of rain, the small crowd who braved the weather were in high spirits with what felt like a high-quality personal show.

Bands Devon Coyote, Scenic Route to Alaska, The Royal Foundry and Bend Sinister killed it with The Royal Foundry’s Robbie Szabo even performing a heartfelt cello solo.

The likelihood of rain effecting the event hadn’t been good odds. With last year’s Axis (Muddy) Mundi, at the same venue, still fresh in everyone’s minds and Revelstoke’s habit of being a last minute town, ticket sales were minimal.
