Possible COVID-19 exposure at Revelstoke’s Craft Bierhaus

“It’s going to hurt my business, but it’s the responsible thing to do,” Craft Bierhaus owner says of decision to remain closed while all staff are tested for the virus

A possible COVID exposure took place at Craft Bierhaus last week.

Craft Bierhaus owner Trevor Roberts said Interior Health had contacted him regarding a possible exposure from a customer on November 11.

Roberts told the Mountaineer that while no staff are showing symptoms, they are all in the process of getting tested, until then the doors of the Craft Bierhaus will remain closed.

“It’s going to hurt my business, but it’s the responsible thing to do,” shared Roberts, who said he wants the community to know COVID-19 is real and there are cases in Revelstoke.

“We want to provide clear and timely communication to the community regarding the spread of the virus,”he said.

In cases of COVID exposure, contact tracing is conducted through Interior Health.

“If you have been at the Bierhaus after November 11 and have symptoms you should get a test. We promise to be transparent when we know information relating to public health. We are not allowed to contact patrons the BCCDC will if they deem it a risk,” said Roberts.

The Bierhaus will remain closed until staff tests come back negative and a deep clean is completed. Prior to the possible exposure, Craft Bierhaus already had strict rules including refusing to serve groups of six or more (no table splitting), wearing KN95 masks in the front of house and using fast neutralizing disinfectant.

“This is the responsibility of us and the community to help keep everyone safe,” said Roberts.
