Construction on Mackenzie Village officially got underway with a ground breaking ceremony held on Monday.

Phase 1 of the Nichol Road development saw 60% of the yet to be built units selling within only a few hours of becoming available. Mackenzie Village has partnered with Horizon North Logistics who will oversee the construction.

“Horizon North will be working with many of our local suppliers and businesses in Revelstoke,” states a post on the Mackenzie Village Facebook page. “Our number one goal is working with the community to build a project that we can all be proud of.”

Phase 1 of the project includes a mix of apartments and condominiums and is set to be complete this November.

Phase 2 of the development should begin in 2018. That phase will include the construction of mix-used buildings and will incorporate retail space.
