Pedestrian dies in MVI on Highway 23 north of Revelstoke

An Alberta man was standing near his pickup/camper unit when he was struck by a passing commercial truck on Saturday.

A 35-year-old Alberta man was killed on Saturday after he was struck by a transport truck on Highway 23 North about 90 kilometres north of Revelstoke.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.

Revelstoke RCMP spokesperson Staff-Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said the man was standing outside his pickup truck and camper unit alongside the highway when he was struck by a flat-deck trailer.

Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including a BC Ambulance Service helicopter. When the paramedic helicopter arrived at the scene, they pronounced the man deceased. Local RCMP and traffic services police also attended the scene.

Police are not releasing the name of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.

“The BC Coroner Service local Coroner is conducting their investigation and the RCMP Traffic Analyst is examining the scene. Trans-Canada East Traffic Services has conduct of the investigation. Charges are pending for the commercial truck driver,” said Staff-Sgt. Grabinsky in a statement.
