New Boxwood Suites motel gets variance OKs
Update: All requests for development permit variances for Revelstoke’s newest motel proposal went forward without a hitch at the April 14 city council meeting.
Applicant Peter Humphreys is preparing to develop the old P&T Farm Market into a five-unit motel called Boxwood Suites on Victoria Rd. He requested a sign height variance from 7.6m to 8.23m, the use of a changeable LED board for vacancy information, plus a number of minor changes to setback distancing.
Councillors did not dwell too much on the proposal at the meeting and like Councillor Scott Duke, they were unanimously in favour of getting an empty building back into use.
“Getting an upgrade would be a big improvement,” Duke said.
“I’d like to see that as quickly as possible.”
The majority of the variances were required because the use of the building is changing from a supermarket to a motel, which have different setback requirements.
