The Trans-Canada reopened at about 5 a.m. on Dec. 1.
Revelstoke RCMP referred us to a Southeast District Traffic Services spokesperson based in the Golden, B.C. detachment for further information on the incident. That spokesperson was not immediately available Tuesday morning.
UPDATE: 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1
Revelstoke RCMP member Cpl. Wasylenki issued a statement on Dec. 1 confirming that one person had died and another received minor injuries.
Police say the crash happened about 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, about 18 kilometres east of Revelstoke on the Trans-Canada. It involved a head-on collision between an eastbound tractor-trailer and a westbound vehicle, which crossed the centre line and struck the oncoming transport truck.
The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man, died at the scene. The driver of the transport truck received minor injuries.
“Weather and road conditions were favourable at the time of the incident,” Cpl. Wasylenki stated, adding that the investigation into the cause of the collision continues.
