A fiery crash involving multiple tractor trailers and at least one SUV has left one man dead, several injured and closed the Trans-Canada between Revelstoke and Golden.
The incident happened on the Trans-Canada Highway in Glacier National Park about 50 kilometres east of Revelstoke. Revelstoke RCMP got the call just after 9 a.m.
Cpl. Wasylenki of the Trans-Canada East Traffic Services said a westbound tractor-trailer crossed the centre line and collided head-on with an eastbound tractor-trailer.
The driver of the eastbound transport truck, a 51-year-old B.C. resident, was killed in the crash. The driver of the westbound truck and his passenger were seriously injured.
After the impact, the westbound truck caught on fire.
A third tractor-trailer unit collided into the scene after the crash, leaving the driver with minor injuries. An SUV also collided into the original crash, also leaving the driver with injuries.
At the scene, several vehicles were reduced to twisted, burned-out hulks following the head-on impact.

An MVI on Monday morning has closed the Trans-Canada between Revelstoke and Golden.
According to DriveBC, the highway will be closed until the afternoon. The provincial road information service says the next update will come at 2 p.m. on Mar. 13. The estimated reopening time is 3:30 p.m.
