Mountaineer Volunteer: Denis Severino for the Revelstoke Coffee House

1. Where do you volunteer?

The night of the Coffee House I volunteer at The United Church. When the Coffee House isn’t running, I’m getting the next one ready.

2. What are your volunteer duties?

  Book feature musicians

• Organize volunteers
• Poster the coffee house, maintain FB Group Page, put up Stoke List posts
• Collect swag for the event from local businesses that sponsor the coffee house
• Write grants for The Revelstoke Folk Music Society to keep the event affordable
• Run the Revelstoke Folk Music Society non-profit
• Update/fix/maintain the PA system and lights
• Set up and tear down the day of the coffee house

3. Why do you volunteer for the Revelstoke Coffee House?

I volunteer for our organization because I started it, because I’m a lover of acoustic music, because I’m lucky enough have the time to do so, because it’s a community based event, and because there is a need for affordable community based events in Revelstoke that are musical in nature, and are in a family friendly atmosphere.

4. For you, what’s rewarding about volunteering?

What’s rewarding is being a part of people coming together, people showing up and enjoying the coffee house, watching musicians hone their skills, being blown away every coffee house by someone’s performance, and how incredibly respectful our audience is.
