Mountaineer Grizzlies reporter Kyle Simkins gets new role

Revelstoke Mountaineer sports reporter Kyle Simkins has taken on a new role, but he won’t be leaving the Revelstoke Forum.

In a March 6 Revelstoke Grizzlies media release, Revelstoke Grizzlies General Manager Ryan Parent announced that Simkins has been hired as the Marketing Director for the Revelstoke Grizzlies.

“I believe Kyle will inject enthusiasm and be able to revive our marketing strategy,” Parent said in a statement. “We have seen the quality work Kyle has done all year with the Revelstoke Mountaineer and his passion for sports and community. I am looking forward to working with Kyle.”

Simkins hails from LaSalle, Ontario and recently graduated from the journalism program at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario.

In Ontario, he gained experience broadcasting while calling hockey games live for Fasthockey.com and also working as a sports show host for TVCogeco in Ontario. Since starting with the Revelstoke Mountaineer, Simkins has also picked up morning show hosting duties at Stoke FM in Revelstoke.

Simkins’ long-term goal is to become a sports talk-show host.

The Revelstoke Mountaineer congratulates Simkins in his new role and looks forward to the 2015–2016 Revelstoke Grizzlies campaign!
