Loose Moose return to Revelstoke for a night of hilarious improv comedy

Enjoy a bit of a laugh and a fun night out? That’s all the criteria you need to enjoy a Loose Moose Theatre Company performance.

These Calgary-based improvisation dramatists will be in Revelstoke for one night only on Saturday, October 17, bringing their hilarious show Return of the Moose!

Anything really goes at this show, and as artistic director Dennis Cahill explains, expected the unexpected.

“Because we improvise within each show, every show is different, so almost everything is a surprise for both the audience and performers,” he said. “We utilise different structural devises during a show, but the content is always unique. Also, because at least some of the content is based on audience input each performance reflects that specific audience. In other words, what happens in Revelstoke only happens in Revelstoke.”

The direction the show happens to take on the night really depends on the reactions given by the audience. And if you’re more into sitting by the sidelines and enjoying, then relax, Cahill said you’ll be free to watch.

“We spontaneously create a series of short improvised scenes that are often based on information taken from the audience,” Cahill said. “As well, we sometimes invite audience members to join us on stage to help us out with some scenes. However, we always look for willing volunteers, and we always take care of those volunteers to make sure they have a great time working with us. We do know that some people may be concerned that we will drag them up on stage and make fun of them, but that is not how we operate.”

The Loose Moose Theatre Company team who will be performing in Revelstoke are a well-oiled unit, having worked together for almost 20 years.

“Part of the joy of improvising together for so long is that there is a comfort level that allows the performers to push each other creatively, but with a confidence that allows the audience to relax and enjoy the show,” Cahill said. “The performers are looking forward to this show, and we hope that Revelstoke is as well!”
