The unstoppable production of Mamma Mia! by Flying Arrow Productions premieres on Wednesday June 22, 2022, and you won’t want to miss it. The show will go on rain or shine thanks to a temporary outdoor stage.

The company says this live performance is unique because it’s the first community musical to be performed outside at Queen Elizabeth Park.

Mamma Mia! was written by playwright Catherine Johnson and the music was composed by ABBA members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. It is the story of a young girl getting married and inviting three men who could possibly be her dad.

The company brought Shrek to Revelstoke in 2020 and is excited to get theatre back to town with the Broadway musical Mamma Mia!, says artistic director Anita Hallewas in an interview with Mountaineer staff.

Hallewas says she’s most excited for people to come together and feel a part of something.

“I’m really excited to get people in the space to see theatre in Revelstoke,” she says. “There’s something special about sitting and enjoying something together. We’ve been working on this since February. It’s five months of work to have an opening night in this space.” She adds that she’s also excited to hear the audience cheering and laughing together again.

The show is made possible with the help of many volunteers. An impressive arching stage has been constructed in Queen Elizabeth Park for the production to accommodate the actors, rain or shine. Hallewas makes promises of good times and lots of glitter.

Shows will be Wednesday, June 22–28 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee shows on June 25 and 26, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 and $15 for children under 15. All matinee shows are $15. There will be blanket seating up front and chair seating behind. Tickets can be purchased online at
