Marten Youssef is the Director of Public Engagement for IIO, the independent police watchdog that conducts investigations into officer-related incidents of death or serious harm. Their role is to determine whether or not an officer may have committed and offence.

In an interview with the Mountaineer, Youssef wouldn’t comment on the case, or confirm that the suspect, Sheldon Kyle Thunderblanket, had been seriously injured or killed.

At this point, it’s unknown if Thunderblanket was injured at all, injured in the confrontation with police near Golden, B.C., or during the manhunt near Revelstoke.
