Greens announce candidate Samson Boyer for Columbia River–Revelstoke

The B.C. Green Party has announced Samson Boyer as the Columbia River–Revelstoke candidate in the May 9 B.C. provincial election.

In a bio provided with a Mar. 6 media release announcing his candidacy, the Greens said Boyer works in the hospitality and tourism industry and is a beekeeper.

“Having lived in this area for most of my life I am so proud to call the Kootenays home,” said Boyer in a statement. “There is such potential and every day I see what people are capable of achieving in this region. I want to help ensure that there is only more opportunity available. I would like to promote a diversified economy and continue to encourage innovation and technology in the pursuit of increasingly sustainable industry and opportunities for well-paying jobs throughout Columbia River-Revelstoke. I believe we need change. It’s with the B.C. Green Party that I see change is possible.”

Boyer is an East Kootenay resident, where he’s lived for most of his life. According to the bio, he took an interest in beekeeping as a young teen and has been pursuing it enthusiastically since. With significant work experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, including the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce, Samson has pursued roles in leadership as a ski and snowboard instructor and lifeguard. He’s described as an avid reader and news junkie.

“Politics and religious study have been at the forefront of his educational pursuits for quite sometime,” the statement read.

Green Party, added in a statement. “He is a young, dynamic individual with a stake in the future of his community, and knows that B.C. deserves far better than the status quo. His deep roots in the Kootenays and passion for engagement at the community level make him an exceptional candidate for Columbia River-Revelstoke.
